China lifts partial ban on Nexperia chip exports
China is relaxing its export ban on Nexperia chips after high-level talks between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump in South Korea.
This follows a back-and-forth: the Netherlands first restricted Nexperia—owned by China's Wingtech—over national security worries, so China hit back by blocking chip exports to Europe.
Now, only some Nexperia chips that meet certain criteria can be shipped out again.
Why it matters
Nexperia supplies nearly half of Europe's car electronics, so the ban was causing real headaches for automakers and industrial and consumer electronics manufacturers.
With China easing up, European industries are hoping for smoother supply chains and fewer production delays.
If you're into tech or cars, this is one of those behind-the-scenes moves that actually shapes what ends up on the road—and in your hands.
