A robot now assists passengers at Cochin Airport
What's the story
Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has launched a robotic assistance service at the airport, as part of its efforts to improve passenger convenience and travel experience. The first phase of this initiative was inaugurated by CIAL Managing Director S Suhas today at 'Kalangan,' an art museum located in the domestic security hold area of the airport.
Functionality
Robot to welcome passengers, provide directions, real-time flight information
The newly introduced robot will welcome passengers, provide directions, and real-time flight information. It will also guide them to boarding gates and other airport facilities.
The machine can be interacted with for travel-related assistance such as details about CIAL services, flight schedules, and gate numbers.
This innovative solution is aimed at making the travel experience smoother for passengers at the airport.
Cultural promotion
Promoting Kerala's rich cultural heritage
The robot will also promote Kerala's rich cultural heritage by providing information about traditional art forms like Kathakali and Ottanthullal.
It will also showcase sculptures and artworks at 'Kalangan' while directing passengers to the relevant exhibits.
This feature not only enhances passenger experience but also promotes local culture, making it a unique addition to the airport's services.
Expansion
Future plans for passenger assistance
In the next phase of this initiative, CIAL plans to deploy passenger assistance robots in the airport's check-in halls.
The airport operator is also considering using delivery robots to bring food and other products directly to passengers inside the terminal.
These future plans indicate a strong commitment by CIAL toward leveraging technology for improving passenger services and convenience at the airport.
