Indian e-commerce firm Snapdeal today announced a three-day long sale offering "double digit" discounts on consumer favourite categories like electronics, fashion, and home. With discounts of up to 70%, Snapdeal is looking to fight the biggies like Bengaluru-based Flipkart and global leader Amazon. There's more to look forward to, as Snapdeal said that this is the "first of many such special promotions".

    E-commerce competition intensifies

Although Snapdeal was engaged in merger talks with rival Flipkart last month, it has now decided to compete with its local and global rivals. The announcement of this sale probably took Flipkart and Amazon by surprise, both of whom are now gearing up to announce their own sales for the upcoming festive season.

Amazon consolidating its position in India

Meanwhile, Amazon is looking to consolidate its position in India as it aims for complete market domination. Today, Amazon announced the setting up of its fifth fulfilment centre in Haryana as it looks to bolster its storage capacity in India. The global giant has over 40 such warehouses across India and is looking to expand further for faster deliveries.
