Foxconn reroutes India-Made iPhones to US amid tariffs
Foxconn, the company that makes iPhones for Apple, has started shipping nearly all its India-made iPhones straight to the US. From March to May 2025, a whopping 97% of these exports—worth $3.2 billion—were headed stateside. That's a huge jump from last year, when only about half went to the US. The main reason? Apple wants to dodge high US tariffs on Chinese-made products.
Close to $1 billion worth of iPhones exported in May
May 2025 saw close to $1 billion worth of iPhones shipped from India to the US—the second-highest month ever after March's $1.3 billion record. In just five months this year, exports have already hit $4.4 billion, easily beating all of 2024's total.
Apple is making India a bigger part of its game
Apple is clearly making India a bigger part of its global game plan as trade tensions with China heat up. For anyone interested in tech or global business moves, it's wild to see how quickly supply chains can shift—and how India is stepping up as a major player in where your next iPhone might come from.
