India asks Apple to increase local component production before assembly
Business
India is asking Apple to boost its local component manufacturing before the tech giant starts assembling MacBooks, iPads, and Apple Watches in the country.
Right now, Apple makes iPhones and AirPods in India, but the government wants more parts made locally, not just for use here but also for export to places like China and Vietnam.
The idea is to make India a bigger player in Apple's global supply chain.
