India's crude oil imports reach record levels

India brought in a record 23.32 million metric tons of crude oil in May—a jump of nearly 10% from April.
This surge highlights how fast the country's economy and industry are growing, with fuel demand also hitting its highest level in over a year.

TL;DR

Overall crude imports up about 6% compared to last year

Compared to last year, overall crude imports went up about 6%, but imports of refined products actually dipped a bit.
Interestingly, India exported more fuel than before, sending out over 7% more than last year.
Meanwhile, India is now buying less oil from Russia—down almost 16%—as global prices and politics keep shifting.
