India's defence exports poised for major boost
India exported defense equipment worth ₹23,622 crore in FY25—a huge leap that's 34 times higher than a decade ago and up 12% from last year.
With deals now reaching about 80 countries, the government has its eyes set on an even bigger goal: ₹50,000 crore by 2029.
Private firms led this growth
Most of this growth came from private firms, who chipped in over ₹15,000 crore. State-run DPSUs added another ₹8,389 crore.
Reliance Defence even landed a ₹600 crore deal with Germany's Rheinmetall for ammunition—building on earlier partnerships with global giants like Dassault and Thales.
Global defense market is shifting toward India
With NATO planning to ramp up defense spending and Europe facing production slowdowns, there's fresh demand for reliable suppliers.
India's mix of tech skills and affordability puts it in a sweet spot to grab more of the global market as things heat up.
