Leopold Aschenbrenner, a well-known AI investor, just put $400 million into a mystery private company, right after his hedge fund, Situational Awareness, nearly collapsed when tech stocks crashed.
This follows a $100 million investment in the same company last month.
Situational awareness fell to $10B
Situational Awareness dropped from $45 billion to $10 billion during the turmoil.
To keep things afloat, Aschenbrenner sold off public tech stocks to Citadel and paid down debts while holding on to key private investments like Anthropic and Fluidstack.
He told investors he's taking responsibility and promised changes to prevent future crises, on the same weekend as Aschenbrenner's wedding with dozens of high-profile Silicon Valley attendees.
