MakeMyTrip, ixigo and Yatra make AI central to Indian travel
Big names in Indian travel (MakeMyTrip, ixigo, and Yatra) are shifting gears and making AI a core part of their game plan.
Instead of just focusing on discounts or inventory like before, they're now using AI to handle customer support, plan trips smarter, manage expenses, and roll out new features.
It's a fresh direction that could make booking and managing travel way easier.
AI handles support and corporate travel
MakeMyTrip is pushing for an "AI-first" approach; over 75% of its code is now generated by AI. Their chatbot Myra 2.0 handled more than eight million conversations in one quarter, especially helping users from smaller cities.
ixigo said AI solved 92% of customer queries in Q1, while building proprietary, voice-optimised SLMs and AI agents that can handle travel workflows and execute actions across platforms.
Meanwhile, Yatra is using AI to simplify corporate travel by automating tasks and making expense tracking less of a headache for businesses.
