Markets mixed as Sensex gains 374 after closing auction session
Business
Stock markets ended Thursday on a mixed note, thanks to the rollout of a new closing auction session (CAS).
The Sensex climbed 374 points to finish at 78,955, but the Nifty barely budged, up just 11 points at 24,636.
Mid-cap stocks slipped a bit, while small-cap stocks edged higher.
Reliance Industries and SBI lead gains
Reliance Industries and SBI led the gains with more than 3% jumps, while Power Grid dropped 4%.
PSU banks were strong too, but auto and realty stocks lost some ground.
The RBI's latest policy didn't shake things up much; analysts say interest elastic sectors like financials and autos are doing well due to other fundamental factors.
Overall, the market saw just a few more declines than advances.
