What's the story
Chinese smartphone brand OPPO has leased a massive 4,30,400 square feet of space in Greater Noida's Ecotech area. The electronics manufacturer Bhagwati Products Ltd will occupy the space at a starting monthly rent of ₹1.04 crore. The lease agreement, as per property registration documents accessed by Propstack, is valid for 58 months starting from January 1, 2026 with a 5% escalation after 24 months.
Company profile
Leased space includes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors
The leased space includes the first, second, and third floors of the property. Bhagwati Products is the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) arm of Indian smartphone and electronics company Micromax. Manufacturing strategy
OPPO's move to localize smartphone manufacturing in India
In 2025, Moneycontrol reported that OPPO was negotiating with several EMS firms for localizing smartphone manufacturing in India. Bhagwati Products-Huaqin joint venture was among those it outsourced production to. The company was also in talks with Tata Group's Tata Electronics, another EMS provider that manufactures Apple's iPhones in India. These moves are part of OPPO's broader strategy to strengthen its manufacturing base in India amid government pressure to localize production.
Industry trend
Industry-wide shift toward localization
The trend of localizing manufacturing isn't just limited to OPPO. Other Chinese companies with a strong presence in India, like Vivo, have also joined the bandwagon. Vivo has formed a joint venture with Dixon Technologies to boost local manufacturing.
