PM Modi to inaugurate Safran's aircraft engine MRO facility in Hyderabad

Business

On November 26, Prime Minister Modi will virtually open Safran's new aircraft engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Hyderabad.
This is the first time a global player has set up such a center in India—a big step for the country's aviation scene.

Why does this matter?

This new SAESI facility isn't just huge (think: 45,000+ square meters and ₹1,300 crore invested)—it's set to service engines for popular jets like the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX.
By 2035, it aims to handle up to 300 engines a year and create over 1,000 skilled jobs for Indian engineers and technicians.

Boosting India's aviation independence

With this move, India can rely less on foreign MROs and keep more business—and jobs—at home. It also helps strengthen local supply chains and supports India's goal of becoming a major aviation hub.
Recent government reforms have made it easier for facilities like this to operate here, reflecting a positive development in the aviation sector.
