Sensex jumps nearly 555 points as Nifty crosses 24,200

The Indian stock market bounced back Thursday morning, with the Sensex jumping nearly 555 points and the Nifty crossing the 24,200 mark.

This upbeat start follows a rough streak of 12 straight days in the red.

IT and financials lead, metals slip

IT and financial stocks led today's rally: Infosys popped over 2%, TCS gained more than 1%, and Shriram Finance surged too.

On the flip side, metal and energy shares like Hindalco, ONGC, Coal India, and Reliance slipped into the red after recent global tensions pushed markets down yesterday.
