Ubisoft executives convicted for workplace harassment
Three former top Ubisoft executives were convicted by a French court for sexual and psychological harassment at the company's Montreuil office between 2012 and 2020.
The court said they created a toxic work environment—allegations that first surfaced during the #MeToo movement, when employees spoke out about bullying, sexism, and unwanted advances.
Details of the sentences and fines
Thomas Francois got a three-year suspended prison sentence and a €30,000 fine for sexual harassment, psychological harassment, and attempted sexual assault—including tying an employee to a chair and trying to kiss them without consent.
Serge Hascoet received an 18-month suspended sentence plus a €45,000 fine for psychological harassment; Guillaume Patrux was given 12 months suspended with a €10,000 fine for psychological harassment.
All three deny any intent to harm; Hascoet plans to appeal.
This case is seen as an important step in holding gaming industry leaders accountable for toxic behavior at work.
