X drops $90 million lawsuit against law firm Wachtell
Elon Musk's platform X (formerly Twitter) has officially dropped its $90 million lawsuit against the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.
The case was dismissed "with prejudice" on November 19, 2025, so it can't be brought back.
The suit originally claimed Wachtell got an unfair bonus during Musk's takeover of Twitter.
What went down and how it ended
X argued that Wachtell's fee broke trust and was inflated by outgoing Twitter execs before the sale closed.
Wachtell pushed back, saying their fee was approved by Twitter's board for helping secure billions for shareholders in court—basically making sure Musk followed through with the buyout.
After a judge sent things to private arbitration, X walked away from the fight.
Wachtell said they are "pleased that X has dismissed its meritless lawsuit with prejudice. There was no settlement."
