Delhi: Six-year-old mercilessly raped outside famous temple

Tainting Delhi's name once again, a man allegedly raped a six-year-old outside a temple at DDU Marg in central Delhi on Saturday. The incident has left the girl with damaged internal organs. She was bleeding when she was found. Currently she's recuperating in a hospital and the man has been arrested. He was apparently helped by a transgender friend, who's still absconding.

The girl was abducted by the accused's friend around 6PM

Delhi Police officials said the girl, along with her rickshaw-puller father and beggar stepmother, lived on a pavement. On Saturday, the girl was abducted by the accused's friend around 6PM from near the Kali temple on Minto Road, where she was playing. After she went missing, her father rushed to police for help. They conducted a thorough search and found her around 11PM.

She had to undergo 4-hour surgery, 'out of danger now'

When the survivor was found, she was bleeding from her private parts and writhing in pain. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where sexual assault was confirmed. She also underwent a four-hour surgery; now she's out of danger, cops said. Based on her statement, one Baiju alias Ajay was arrested, while the hunt for the other is on, said DCP (Central) MS Randhava.

DCW arranges financial help for the survivor

Yesterday, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal visited her at the hospital. "Despite four-hour operation, her internal organs are damaged. This is one of the worst cases I've seen so far," she said post her visit. She added DCW has provided them financial help and has also opened a mail-ID, livingpositive@gmail.com, for donors. Maliwal will arrange for the girl's rehabilitation, she said.
