    What's the story

A 23-year-old man identified as Ravi aka 'Spiderman' was recently arrested in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar.

He faces over six cases of robbery in West Delhi area alone, and separately, seven other cases have been lodged under IPC Section 380 in various police stations of Delhi.

    But, why the name?

That's because Ravi used to wear a red jersey while committing the thefts.

    Comment

'Even when he was caught, he was wearing red jersey'

"He was obsessed with it. Even when he was caught near Pacific Mall in Tilak Nagar, he was wearing a red jersey," said Monika Bharadwaj (DCP), West.

Explaining his modus operandi, Delhi police officials said that after dark, Ravi would climb first and second-floor homes in Mansarovar Park and Kirti Nagar.

By holding up a drain tube, he would climb upwards.

    Method

He would enter those homes through their balconies, said cops

Once upstairs, he would set foot on the balconies of those homes, and take away cash, expensive ornaments, and other precious items.

After his loot, he would escape.

To catch Ravi, an operation was planned out by Delhi police, for which they had mapped Mansarovar Garden and inspected CCTV footage from the area.

And now, has also confessed to his crimes, said cops.

    Idea

Ravi would dispose off the loot to an accomplice

In his confession, Ravi threw more light on how he operated.

He said he set his target only after the police patrolling teams would conclude their rounds.

After the steal, he would transfer the loot to his partner-in-crime. He revealed to a police officer that he robbed to fund his "gambling habit."

After numerous complaints of burglaries were lodged, Ravi was caught.
