Post rape allegations, Alok Nath files defamation case against Vinta
Alok Nath, who grabbed the headlines for allegedly raping writer-producer Vinta Nanda, has now filed a defamation case against the lady. Vinta had alleged Alok, in an inebriated state, raped her 19 years ago. The allegations created a storm in the industry after which actresses Navneet Nishan and Sandhya Mridul also spoke about being harassed by the veteran actor.
Alok has rubbished all allegations, lawyers cite conspiracy theories
Notably, Alok has vehemently rubbished all the allegations and chose to deal with them legally. His lawyer Ashok Saraogi called the allegations baseless and wondered why the victims were silent until now, in a democratic country like India. "I feel all this has been done only to defame his image and nothing beyond that," he added. Saraogi claimed the legal battle would be long.
Backstory: After staying silent for years, Vinta narrated her ordeal
'Tara' writer Vinta Nanda stayed silent for many years, but this week she narrated it all. She wrote after a party, she passed out but remembered being 'violated endlessly'. She was in a lot of pain when she woke up at her residence. Vinta also informed Alok's wife about it, but the latter claimed she couldn't do anything. Notably, she was her best friend.
Vinta's story gave other women the courage to speak up
Interestingly, not just Vinta, Sandhya and Deepika Amin have also accused Alok of sexual misconduct. In fact, Alok's co-stars Renuka Shahane and Himani Shivpuri have spoken about the alcoholic's problematic behavior. They stated that Alok's misdeeds were an open secret in the industry. Now that his dark side continues to be exposed, we wonder how many cases would Alok file.
