Alok Nath Filmography

Alok Nath is a popular Indian actor who has worked across the Television industry and the Indian film industry. Born on July 10, 1965, he is commonly referred to as ‘Babuji’ in reference to the fatherly character played by him over the years. He made his debut in the 1982 movie ‘Gandhi’ which was directed by Sir Richard Attenborough. Nath played a cameo in the movie and the film went on to win an Oscar for Best Picture. His first commercially successful Television show was ‘Rishte-Naate.’ He rose to prominence with the hit television show ‘Buniyaad’ (1986). Between 1980 and 2016, Nath has done more than 15 Television shows including ‘Tara’ (1993-1997), ‘Rishtey’ (1999-2001), ‘Sapna Babul Ka... Bidaai’ (2007-2010), and ‘Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali’ (2014-2015). Apart from having a prolific Television career, Nath has also played powerful characters in Indian cinema. Between 1994 and 2019, he appeared in more than 100 movies, out of which many were blockbusters including ‘Phool Bane Angaray’ (1991) ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’ (1994), and ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ ( 1999). In 2018, during the height of the #MeToo movement, TV producer Vinita Nanda accused Nath of rape and sexual assault and registered a complaint against him in Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai. Though Nath denied the allegations, actors Renuka Shahane, Himani Shivpuri, and Sandhya Mridul confirmed incidents about Nath's predatory behavior. In January 2019, a Mumbai Sessions Court granted anticipatory bail to Nath.
