Baron Zemo: News

Baron Zemo is the name of various fictional supervillains appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Two main characters have used the Baron Zemo title, including Helmut Zemo and Heinrich Zemo. These characters are major enemies of Captain America and the Avengers and have headed the Masters of Evil. The first published version of Baron Zemo, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, initially appeared in ‘The Avengers’ #4 (March 1964). This character was identified as Heinrich Zemo in ‘The Avengers’ #6 (July 1964) and ‘Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos' #8. Helmut Zemo has used the Baron Zemo title since ‘Captain America’ #275. Also, Harbin Zemo, the progenitor of the Zemo line, was first seen in a flashback in the ‘Avengers/Thunderbolts’ series. Both Helmut Zemo and Heinrich appear in animated series such as ‘The Avengers: United They Stand’ and ‘Avengers Assemble’. Baron Zemo appears as a boss in video games, including 'Iron Man/X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal' and 'Marvel: Avengers Alliance'.
