Big update in a long-standing case: The Bombay High Court has decided there's enough evidence to put Gautam Khanduja, Nafisa Joseph's former fiance, on trial for abetment related to her 2004 suicide.
Khanduja wanted the charges dropped, but the court said questions of guilt need to be sorted out through a proper trial.
Nafisa Joseph suicide after Khanduja call-off
Joseph died by suicide after Khanduja called off their wedding. She had learned he wasn't actually divorced from his wife and asked him for proof; he refused and ended things citing she was short-tempered.
Prosecutors say this left Joseph feeling humiliated and distressed. Family and friends' statements back up these claims.
Khanduja plans to appeal to the Supreme Court, but for now, the proceedings are stayed.
