Delhi ex-institute director arrested for faking UN plates, faces serious charges

Entertainment

Chaintanyananda Saraswati, a former director at a Delhi management institute, was arrested after nearly two months on the run.
Police say he forged United Nations (UN) diplomatic number plates and pretended to be a UN or Prime Minister's Office official, even driving luxury cars with fake plates.
He was finally caught in an Agra hotel in late September.

What he's accused of—and what's happening now

Saraswati faces charges of sexual harassment, cheating, and forgery. The parent organization of his institute reported him for molestation and fraud.
Police have statements from over 17 victims and have seized phones and are investigating accounts linked to financial irregularities worth crores of rupees.
Right now, Saraswati is in Tihar Jail—allowed his saffron robes and special diet—while investigations continue into witness intimidation, financial scams, and more.
Courts have extended his custody as police dig deeper into the case.
