Delhi Police arrest gangster linked to firing at Kapil's restaurant
What's the story
The Delhi Police have arrested a suspected gangster linked to the shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma's Canada restaurant, reported PTI. The accused, identified as Bandhu Man Singh, is a close associate of Canada-based gangster Goldy Dhillon. Dhillon is reportedly involved in several extortion rackets targeting businessmen and high-profile individuals abroad.

Singh's role in the conspiracy of overseas operatives under investigation
Investigators believe that Singh was in touch with Dhillon's network and was part of a larger conspiracy to target Sharma's restaurant as an act of "intimidation." A senior police officer said the arrest was made based on specific intelligence inputs. "A Chinese pistol, along with cartridges, was recovered from his possession." "His role in the conspiracy and his links with overseas operatives are being further probed," the officer said.

Singh provided logistical support to Dhillon's shooters
Singh, a native of Ludhiana, had reportedly provided logistical support, including vehicles and weapons, to Dhillon's shooters who fired at the cafe. He was in Canada during the shooting but returned to India later. "After returning to India, he was trying to rebuild the network of Goldy Dhillon's gang in Punjab to extort businessmen and carry out shootings against other rival gangs," a police officer said.

What led to the firing?
The latest attack on the café occurred in October, its third since July, just two weeks after reopening from previous shootings. Dhillon, of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility, sharing a video of shots fired from a car and alleging the attacks were over supposed anti-religious remarks by Bollywood celebrities. A key member of the Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang, Dhillon reportedly has a ₹10L bounty on his head from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
