Dharmendra's heartfelt poem in 'Ikkis' is a tribute to his roots
Dharmendra, who recently passed away, appears in his final film Ikkis. He recites a Punjabi poem—Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa—that captures his deep love for his village.
Maddock Films called him "a true son of the soil" and described the verse as "a yearning" and "a tribute from one legend to another."
What's 'Ikkis' about?
Directed by Sriram Raghavan and releasing December 25, Ikkis tells the story of Arun Khetarpal—the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee from the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
The film stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Agastya Nanda, and even features a rare moment between Dharmendra and Asrani.
Why does this matter?
The poem video was released as a tribute after Dharmendra's passing.
For fans old and new, it's both a celebration of his legacy and a reminder of how deeply he cherished his roots.
