What's the story

Ranveer Singh's upcoming film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge aka Dhurandhar 2, has reportedly raked in a whopping ₹12.29 crore in advance ticket sales. The paid previews for the movie began on March 7 and saw over two lakh tickets being sold at the Indian box office. This is for the premiere show on March 18. The highest demand was seen from major cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Record-breaking sales

'Dhurandhar 2' marks 3rd-highest paid previews for national chains

The two national chains, PVR INOX and Cinepolis, accounted for over 75% of the revenue from these advance bookings. They sold just under 1.2 lakh tickets, per Pinkvilla. This makes Dhurandhar's paid previews the third-highest in terms of national chain sales, only behind Jawan (1.55 lakh tickets) and Pathaan (1.22 lakh tickets). Despite not being at the top here, the film's impressive sales indicate a strong performance ahead when full advance bookings open.

Future projections

Meanwhile, it set record for highest preview show collection

The paid previews for Dhurandhar 2 are already the highest ever for a Bollywood film, defeating Stree 2's ₹10 crore haul, per Sacnilk. With more than 10 days to release, it is likely that this record will be broken today. The film has already set a huge capacity for the day with over 6,000 shows on sale, which could exceed 8,000 and potentially reach 10,000 by the end of the day.

High demand

'Dhurandhar 2's full advance bookings will open later

The advance booking for the release day is yet to open. The strategy is to first maximize the previews, which are priced at premium rates- around 25% to 75% higher than standard prices, depending on location. This means that Dhurandhar will have about half a day's worth of showcasing at highly premium pricing. At this level, the film could cross the ₹30 crore nett mark and may even approach the ₹40 crore nett mark.
