The film is directed by Panos Cosmatos, known for his action-horror masterpiece Mandy. Set to be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, the project is backed by WME Independent, CAA Media Finance, and XYZ Films. Here are the cast, crew, and story details.
'Flesh of the Gods' screenplay and production details
The screenplay for Flesh of the Gods is the brainchild of Andrew Kevin Walker, known for his work on Se7en and The Killer. Walker developed the story in collaboration with Cosmatos. The film is being produced by Adam McKay and Betsy Koch from Hyperobject Industries, along with Isaac and Gena Konstantinakos from Mad Gene Media, a production company founded by Isaac and his wife Elvira Lind.
It is set in 1980s Los Angeles nightlife
Flesh of the Gods is set against the backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles nightlife. The narrative follows a married couple, Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart), who venture out from their luxurious skyscraper condo into a world of hedonism, excitement, and danger led by an enigmatic character known as Nameless. Cosmatos describes his film as a blend of fantasy and nightmare that is both "propulsive and hypnotic."
'We think it's wildly commercial and wildly artful'
Producer McKay expressed his excitement for Flesh of the Gods, highlighting its unique blend of an exceptional director, writer, cast, vampires, and '80's punk aesthetics. "We think it's wildly commercial and wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music, and film. Can you tell how excited I am?" Filming is scheduled to commence later this year.
