Guwahati court denies bail to 3 accused in Zubeen case
A Guwahati court rejected the bail applications of three people linked to the drowning death of popular musician Zubeen Garg, which happened during a yacht swim at Singapore's North East India Festival in September 2025.
Amritprava Mahanta faces murder charges, while Garg's personal security officers Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora are charged with criminal conspiracy and breach of trust.
Chargesheet names 7 people; some have withdrawn bail pleas
A chargesheet was filed, naming a total of seven people—including event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta and musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami (also facing murder charges), plus Garg's cousin Sandipan Garg (culpable homicide).
Some have withdrawn their bail pleas; others haven't applied yet. The investigation is ongoing.
His family has been present at hearings and welcomed the prosecution's opposition to bail.
