'You ended nepotism': Harshvardhan credits fans for 'Thamma,' 'Deewaniyat' success

Harshvardhan Rane, currently basking in the success of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, has urged audiences to also support Ayushmann Khurrana's Thamma. Both films were released on Diwali (October 21). Speaking at a theater in Gujarat where his film was screened, Rane said, "This Diwali, you supported the films of two outsiders."

Rane further said, "Watch both the films, please, and enjoy both. This sends a good message out that aap logon ne akele poora ka poora Bollywood se nepotism hi khatm kar diya (you people alone finished nepotism from the entire Bollywood)." Both films have performed well at the box office. Thamma, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has earned ₹78 crore net in India and ₹110 crore gross worldwide, per Hindustan Times. Meanwhile, Rane's film has collected ₹34 crore net in India and over ₹45 crore gross worldwide so far. Directed by Milap Zaveri, it was made on a budget of ₹25 crore.
