HBO Max finally arrives in Germany, Italy on January 13

Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service, HBO Max, will finally make its debut in Germany and Italy on January 13, 2026. The platform will also be available in Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein on the same day. This expansion is significant as HBO Max is already present in over 100 territories worldwide with content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures and Television, the DC Universe, and Max Originals.
Content offerings
New originals and sports events to debut on HBO Max
With the launch in Germany and Italy, HBO Max will introduce a host of new original content. These include 4 Blocks Zero, Banksters, a Beetz Brothers documentary on the theft of the 'Big Maple Leaf' gold coin from Berlin's Bode Museum, and a thriller series by Dark Ways creators Jantje Friese and Baran Bo Odar. The service will also feature major sporting events like the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina, Australian Open, Roland-Garros tennis slams, Tour de France among others.
Film offerings
HBO Max's library and upcoming films
HBO Max will offer a mix of local and international films in Germany through agreements with Leonine Studios and Constantin Film. Warner Bros. Pictures Germany productions like Wunderschoner will also be available. In Italy, the platform will exclusively stream Nonostante, directed by Valerio Mastandrea, which opened the Orizzonti section at the 81st Venice Film Festival. Upcoming films include Daniele Barbiero's debut feature Squali starring Lorenzo Zurzolo and James Franco.

HBO Max's existing content and future plans
At launch, HBO Max will feature popular shows like The Pitt, IT: Welcome to Derry, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Euphoria and Industry. A Game of Thrones prequel series Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be added on January 19. The platform also offers films such as Superman, Dune, and Harry Potter movies. It is also set to add Weapons and The Conjuring: Last Rites in the near future.
