What's the story

Acclaimed director Kanu Behl recently took to social media to express his disappointment over the limited screening of his film Agra. The highly acclaimed film, which delves into sexual dynamics within a family and societal fractures in a shrinking space, was released, after a long wait, in theaters on Friday. However, Behl claimed that multiplex chain programming is denying it shows because "small films don't fit into" their schedules.

Audience appeal

Behl urged audiences to demand screenings for 'Agra'

In a post on X, Behl wrote, "Update on 'Agra,' the film: We're being denied shows because of the so-called 'big blockbusters' and because small films 'don't fit into' multiplex chain programming." He added, "It's up to you the audience now! Speak up and tag the chains. Say that you want to see the film." Later, he shared a screenshot from the BookMyShow page of the film in Mumbai, where Agra still had only four shows on Friday.
