Actor Lakshya Lalwani is considering walking out of Dharma Productions's Dostana 2 due to ongoing delays in the project, reported Filmfare. The film, which was initially set to go on floors years ago, has faced multiple postponements. A source told the outlet, "Dostana 2's cast has not been locked yet. Lakshya might not do the film." Meanwhile, Vikrant Massey remains confirmed as part of the film's cast, while Sini Shetty has reportedly been chosen as the female lead.

In September 2025, Massey confirmed his participation in Dostana 2. Speaking to Times Now about his upcoming project, he said, "You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out." He also revealed that the film will present him in a new avatar. "Usme, you will see me wearing good designer clothes." "Karan (Johar) sir will make sure that I wear good clothes and I wear those fancy sunglasses."
