What's the story

Dibakar Banerjee's latest film, Love Sex aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2), a spiritual successor of Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010), was released on April 19. However, the lack of hype, the film's audacious and eccentric content, and the 'A' rating have led to the film completely failing to draw audiences. On its sixth day of release, the film's collections shrunk to merely ₹5 lakh. According to Sacnilk, the film's box office collections are yet to touch ₹1 cr!

Revenue trend

Looking at 'LSD 2' in numbers

On its opening day, LSD 2 earned about ₹15 lakh, followed by a 33.33% decrease in its earnings on the second day. On Day 3 (first Sunday), the film saw a jump of 300%, with the movie netting ₹40 lakh domestically. On Wednesday, its occupancy rate dropped to 7.3% and the ongoing competition with Do Aur Do Pyaar, Maidaan, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has also been a roadblock in its earnings.

The film

More about the film's team and themes

Produced by Balaji Telefilms and Cult Movies, LSD 2's ensemble cast includes Sophie Choudry, Bonita Rajpurohit, Anu Malik, Tusshar Kapoor, Paritosh Tiwari, Abhinav Singh, Mouni Roy, and Uorfi Javed. The film intertwines three stories exploring the themes of identity, technology, and the human condition. This time, LSD stands for love, share, and download. Notably, the film received mixed to negative reviews, which has directly impacted its collections.

Casting milestone

'LSD 2' features first transgender woman in a Hindi film

Its commercial debacle aside, LSD 2 is notable for featuring transgender actor Rajpurohit in her mainstream Hindi cinema debut. In the clip shared by Balaji Motion Pictures on X/Twitter, Rajpurohit expressed, "Whatever I have come to know about myself, it's all through cinema, and even my story matters." She also shared her journey of working at a small production house where she earned a modest income of ₹10-15K.
