In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor said she was immediately intrigued by the concept and felt compelled to explore such an unconventional character. The series is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.

Dixit recalled her first reaction when she was approached for Mrs. Deshpande. She said, "Well, I was told that they are making this series Mrs. Deshpande, and it's about the serial killer, and I was like 'Wait a minute, stop there, what?' They said yes, and I am like I want to hear this; I didn't want to hear anything else." The unique premise encouraged her to delve deeper into the narrative.

Dixit's admiration for Kukunoor
Dixit also expressed her admiration for Kukunoor, saying his involvement in the project further solidified her decision. She said, "He is a fantastic filmmaker... I'm very impressed with his work." "Because he was at the helm... I was assured that it will be made in a very good way, I'll be presented in a very proper way; the way it should be done."

How Dixit's family reacted to her role
With Mrs. Deshpande, Dixit takes on one of her most daring characters yet. Recalling her family's reaction, she shared, "There's never anything made on a woman serial killer, so everybody was like taken aback at first." "So then that kind of dialogue started in the family, and then I told them what it was all about, and they found it very exciting." The show also stars Siddharth Chandekar and Priyanshu Chatterjee and will drop on JioHotstar on December 19.
