Madras court settles Vetri Maaran's 'Manushi' case

Entertainment

The Madras High Court has wrapped up director Vetri Maaran's petition against the censor board over his Tamil film Manushi.
Earlier, the CBFC wanted some scenes changed before giving it a certificate but hadn't clearly said what needed fixing.
Thanks to the court's order, the board now has to point out exactly which parts they find problematic—instead of just saying "no" to the whole film.

More transparency in film censorship

This move is a big deal for anyone who cares about movies and creative freedom.
Instead of facing blanket bans, filmmakers like Maaran can now see what specific changes are needed and decide if they want to edit or challenge them further.
It's a step toward more transparency in how films are censored—and could mean fewer roadblocks for bold stories in Indian cinema going forward.
