'Mahavatar Narsimha' makes Oscar shortlist, puts Indian animation in the spotlight

Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated film by Ashwin Kumar and Hombale Films, has become eligible for consideration for Best Animated Feature at the 98th Oscars.
It's one of only 35 films in the running—pretty huge for Indian animation!
This comes after its impressive box office run, showing that homegrown animated stories can really make waves.

Facing global competition and breaking records

The film is up against big international titles like Zootopia 2 and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, with the final nominees still to be announced.
Mahavatar Narsimha has already crossed ₹300 crore worldwide—setting new benchmarks for Indian animation—and it's set to kick off a whole cinematic universe based on Lord Vishnu's avatars.
