Malayalam actor Minu Muneer arrested for defamatory social media posts
Malayalam actor Minu Muneer was arrested by Kochi cybercrime police after actor-director Balachandra Menon accused her of making defamatory and obscene posts about him online.
The case, registered last October, also involves Sangeeth Luis, who allegedly made repeated threatening calls to Menon on September 13 and 14, 2024.
Muneer and Luis charged with criminal intimidation
Muneer and Luis have been charged with criminal intimidation, publishing obscene content, and causing public nuisance.
After her anticipatory bail plea was denied by the Kerala High Court, Muneer surrendered but was soon granted bail.
The investigation is ongoing, with police looking into both the social media posts and the threatening calls.
This case has sparked extra attention in Kerala following recent conversations about women's safety in the film industry.
