Netizens allege Aamir Khan praised 'TKF' for 'Laal Singh Chaddha'

On Sunday, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan heaped praises on the blockbuster film The Kashmir Files (TKF). Speaking at a press conference for the upcoming pan-Indian movie RRR, the Rangeela actor said every Indian should watch TKF. While his appreciation was initially lauded by fans of the Vivek Agnihotri-directorial, many netizens now feel Khan's praise was just a scheme to promote Laal Singh Chaddha (LSC).
While promoting RRR along with its lead actors Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, and Alia Bhatt, Khan was asked about his reaction to TKF and the reception it was getting. Khan said the "story [of the film] is a part of our history and whatever happened with the Kashmiri Pandits was really sad." "Any film on such a topic must be seen by all Indians."
Promising to definitely watch the Anupam Kher-starrer, Khan had noted, "This film has touched the emotions of all people who believe in humanity...that is what is so beautiful about it." But now, Twitter users are of the opinion that Khan's praise stemmed from building a positive buzz around his upcoming release, LSC. As a result, hundreds of netizens attacked him with similar comments online.

Reacting to how Akshay Kumar's mass entertainer Bachchhan Paandey was struggling to compete with the craze around TKF, some social media users opined Khan was trying to avoid similar reception for LSC. Under production since 2019, Mr. Perfectionist's next film has faced multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the movie, co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, is set to hit theaters on August 11.
As for TKF's performance, the movie is proving to be a smash hit at the box office. In just 10 days, it had collected over Rs. 160cr in India. In the process, the film is eating up the business for several releases, including Bachchhan Paandey. Despite having star power and releasing on Holi, the Kumar-led film didn't witness any growth during its opening weekend.
