Rapper Vedan honored with Priyadarshini Award

Kerala's own Vedan (Hirandas Murali) just bagged the inaugural Priyadarshini Award from Thrissur's Priyadarshini Public Library.
Instead of keeping the ₹1 lakh prize, he donated it back to support the library—plus gifted them 10 books.
The ceremony was packed with young fans who were clearly loving his music and energy.

TL;DR

Lyrics resonate with youth's challenges

At the event, writers praised how his lyrics connect with today's youth and reflect real challenges they face.
MP Shafi Parambil handed over the award, calling Vedan's verses a voice for an active new generation.

Vedan performs live, surprises with cake

Library president T.N. Prathapan got an unexpected birthday cake from Vedan during the ceremony—a wholesome moment that had everyone smiling.
Vedan also performed three crowd-favorite tracks live, making the day even more memorable.
The Priyadarshini Award honors people making a real difference in their communities, just like Vedan is doing through his art.
