Rockstar Games fires employees over leaks, union talks
Rockstar Games has let go of 30-40 employees after accusations of leaking confidential info on public forums.
The company says the firings—spanning both UK and Canada teams—weren't about union activity.
But the Independent Workers's Union of Great Britain (IWGB) isn't convinced, saying those fired were part of a Discord group talking about unionizing, and calling the firings "one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry."
GTA VI set to drop on May 26, 2026
This all follows Rockstar's big 2022 security breach when early Grand Theft Auto VI footage got out.
Since then, Rockstar has ramped up security and brought everyone back to the office full-time—a move IWGB called reckless.
With GTA VI set to drop on May 26, 2026, it's clear there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than just game development.
