Over the years, his name has become synonymous with blockbuster hits. He entered Bollywood in 2003 and redefined mainstream Indian cinema.

'Munna Bhai MBBS' was Hirani's maiden directorial venture and went on to do a business of Rs. 50.05 crore at the box office.

Hirani is largely responsible for starting the trend of sequels, but, unfortunately, what other filmmakers did not take away from 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai' was that they also need to better their previous works.
Bringing back Dutt in his most beloved avatar, the 2006 film surpassed its prequel and raked in Rs. 72 crore.

When '3 Idiots' was up for release in 2009, many people wondered how will Hirani manage to go beyond the brilliance of his previous outings.
All their questions were answered when they saw the film. Starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor Khan, '3 Idiots' was a force to reckon with.
It inaugurated the Rs. 200 crore club.
