'Weapons' spinoff 'Gladys' in works, 'Godzilla x Kong' writer onboard
What's the story
The story of Aunt Gladys, a breakout character from the horror film Weapons, will continue in a prequel titled Gladys. Zach Shields (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire) has been roped in to co-write the screenplay with director Zach Cregger, confirmed Variety. The announcement comes after Weapons's massive box office success, grossing almost $270 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo and earning star Amy Madigan an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
Actor's perspective
Madigan's Oscar win boosted chances of prequel
At the Oscars, Madigan expressed her eagerness to reprise her role in the prequel. "We know how long stuff takes. We know what this business is like, and nothing's real until it is and timing and all those things." "But if it worked out, that would be great, because I trust Zach, and he's got a lot of wacky ideas."
Writer's background
