What's the story

Grant Gustin, known for his role as Barry Allen in The CW's The Flash, has been discussing the new DC Universe with its creative chief, James Gunn. However, their conversations have not revolved around Gustin's famous character. Instead, they've focused on Gunn's upcoming Superman movie reboot. This surprising revelation was made by Gustin during an interview with The Wrap.

Superman fan

Gustin's enthusiasm for Superman and David Corenswet

Gustin clarified that his discussions with Gunn were about Superman, not The Flash. He said, "We've never talked about The Flash. I'm a huge Superman fan." He also expressed excitement about David Corenswet being cast as the DCU's Man of Steel and his anticipation to see what Gunn will do with the character: "I'm just really excited about the movie. And I'm excited about David's casting. I'm excited to see what James Gunn does with it."

Mutual interest

But Gustin has shown interest in working with Gunn before

Gustin and Gunn may not have discussed his playing the red-suited speedster recently, but both have commented on an association before. The actor expressed his willingness to work with Gunn if given the opportunity: "If James Gunn wanted me to! I trust James Gunn." Sadly, he added, "[Gunn] hasn't, for the record." Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy helmer had once said, "Of course [he would] love to work with [Gustin] at some point."

Road ahead

Last The Flash actor, Ezra Miller, will not be returning

Apart from the fact that Gustin enjoys huge popularity and has played The Flash for nine seasons of his show, there's another factor batting for him. Ezra Miller, who last played the superhero in DCEU films, will not be returning in Gunn's new version of the film arm- just like the rest of the Justice League actors. So, the road is clear for Gustin, if both sides wanted it.
