260 African nationals detained in Delhi for suspected drug trafficking
Delhi Police just carried out a big raid called "Operation Clean Sweep," detaining about 260 people from African countries for suspected drug trafficking and staying in the city without valid documents.
The move follows complaints about undocumented foreigners and landlords skipping proper tenant checks.
Among those picked up were men, women, juveniles, and even a few Indian nationals.
Over 25 landlords flagged for illegal rentals
The crackdown involved 30 police teams and around 600 officers, led by senior officials.
During the raids, police found narcotics with some detainees and discovered many had expired or invalid visas.
A large number are from Nigeria, with others from Ivory Coast, Liberia, Senegal, and several other African nations.
Over 25 landlords were also flagged for renting out homes illegally—cases are being registered under relevant sections of law.
Police say document checks are still ongoing, with more raids planned to track down overstaying foreigners and hold landlords accountable.
