UP: Dozens of missing girls rescued overnight in Shahjahnpur

In a surprising turn of events, police in Shahjahanpur rescued 27 missing girls in just 72 hours, after a stern warning by Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police, KB Singh. Singh had warned officers to solve pending abduction cases or face transfers. Officers swung into action, solving even year old cases. 39 such cases were pending, of which 12 are still being investigated.

Safety of women is top priority: Top cop

Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police KB Singh said "The safety and security of women is our priority. We want to make sure that all girls and women in the state feel protected."

    Police swing into action

Shortly after the ultimatum, officers swung into action rescuing several girls from nearby villages. In one case which was unsolved since 2015, the investigating officer managed to rescue the girl within 24 hours. In other cases missing girls were traced to Allahabad and Chandigarh and brought back. The officers were asked to focus solely on these cases and nothing else.

8 cops transferred, 24 on warning

8 officers in the region were transferred to police lines for dereliction of duty. 24 others were given orders to show results within 48 hours or face the same action.
