Ahmedabad plane crash: 231 victims identified through DNA tests

Over a week after the Air India Flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad, officials have identified 231 victims using DNA tests.
So far, 210 bodies have been returned to families, bringing some closure after a tragedy that claimed nearly everyone on board and several people on the ground.

TL;DR

Only 1 person survived the crash

The Boeing 787 crashed just after takeoff on June 12, hitting a medical complex. Out of 242 people on the plane, only one survived; nearly 29 more lost their lives on the ground.
Many victims were from Gujarat and other Indian states, along with British, Portuguese, and Canadian nationals.
Because of severe fire damage at the site, traditional identification wasn't possible—so forensic teams turned to DNA testing to help families get answers faster.
