Amarnath Yatra: Housing arrangements for pilgrims

Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up to welcome more than 50,000 people for the Amarnath Yatra, kicking off July 3, 2025.
Pilgrims will trek via Pahalgam or Baltal to reach the famous cave shrine in the Himalayas.
To make things smoother, over a hundred stay centers with free community meals are ready across key districts.

TL;DR

No trains this year; travel by road under tight security

The journey officially starts from Jammu on July 2, flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Bhagwati Nagar base camp.
Registration is easier now with tatkal options and RFID cards at main entry points like Lakhanpur and Jammu.
This year, everyone travels by road in daily convoys under tight security—no trains—plus real-time weather updates from control rooms to keep everyone safe along the way.
