Amarnath Yatra: Sadhus gather in Jammu for pilgrimage
The Amarnath Yatra, one of India's biggest spiritual journeys, kicks off July 3. Thousands of devotees and sadhus are already gathering in Jammu, all headed to the famous cave shrine in South Kashmir—home to the naturally formed ice Shivlingam that represents Lord Shiva.
How to register for the yatra
Registration opened April 14 and is super accessible—just sign up online or at any of 540+ bank branches with a photo, health certificate, and a fee of approximately ₹220. If you're making the trip, spots like Ram Mandir in Jammu have your back with free meals, places to stay, and medical help primarily for sadhus.
More than just a trek
The Amarnath Yatra isn't just a trek—it's seen as a path to spiritual cleansing and salvation. Every year, people from all over India take on this tough journey for a chance to connect with something bigger than themselves.
