Andhra High Court halts proceedings against Jagan Reddy
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has temporarily stopped the investigation into the death of C Singayya, a YSR Congress Party supporter who died during former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy in June.
The court granted a two-week stay on all proceedings against Reddy, who had earlier received protection from police action.
The case will be back in court after this period.
Death of YSRCP worker
Singayya died on June 18 after allegedly falling under a bulletproof vehicle carrying former CM Reddy near Etukuru village.
Police first filed the case as "death by negligence," but later upgraded it to "culpable homicide not amounting to murder" based on CCTV and drone footage.
Both the driver and Reddy are named in the FIR, but Reddy's lawyers argue he can't be held responsible just for being a passenger.
The next hearing is set for July 1, when the court will decide if the FIR against Reddy should be quashed.
