Bihar officer suspended for caste-based assault
In Sheikhpura, Bihar, a police officer was suspended after allegedly humiliating and beating an e-rickshaw driver.
The officer, Praveen Chandra Diwakar, reportedly stopped Praduman Kumar, questioned his caste, and when Kumar said he was Brahmin, made him lick spit from the ground.
Kumar says he was then beaten with a lathi both on the road and at the police station.
