    Brain-dead teen's liver transported from Tirunelveli to Coimbatore in 4hrs

    The liver of a brain-dead teenage boy was transplanted to a needy patient in Coimbatore on Thursday, after the police created a green corridor for a distance of 350 km from Tirunelveli, enabling the organ to be transported within four hours. Police personnel of Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tirupur, and Coimbatore districts coordinated and facilitated the green corridor, said a release from the hospital.

    16-year-old declared brain dead after suffering head injuries

    16-year-old Gopalakrishnan was declared brain dead by the doctors at a hospital in Tirunelveli after he suffered head injuries in an accident and his family decided to donate his organs. Following this, the brain-dead boy's liver was brought to the Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital in Coimbatore on Wednesday and transplanted to a patient suffering from acute liver failure.
